The Dashboard feature is kind of like what the latest iOS widget lock screen offers, but on the Mac.

For whatever reason, Dashboard has been deemphasized in more recent versions of mac OS though, and if you find yourself not using Dashboard or accidentally entering into Dashboard, you can close the feature and turn it off.

Whether or not you use Dashboard and want it turned off is entirely up to you and how you use your Mac.

The setting you encounter likely depends on if your Mac system software was updated from prior versions with previous settings, or if you did a clean install of a modern release.

How anyone thinks notifications is an improvement is beyond me.

Although, Apple supporting a product doesnt mean much these days.

You are just leaving the Dashboard (space), but the Dashboard processes remain active.

Note: It may not fully disable due to some of the widgets refusing to end their processes.

Some widgets are nice, like the Weather, but others have a mediocre UI.

Also use Delivery Status, Weather, Stocks and Unit Converter all the time.

Hate to see this start dying Miss having RadarinMotion and havent seen any other widget like it.

I use my third party lister widget to check on my Ebay listings.

You may not notice it but I started looking at activity monitor and seeing how much of the CPU and memory they were consuming from the start.
